COVID Policy for the Kent Chamber Choir
Kent Chamber Choir - COVID Policy, 2022-2023 season
Approved, 9/13/21, KCC Board of Directors
Updated, 4/10/22, KCC Board of Directors (previous updates, 11/7/21 & 1/10/21)
In anticipation of reopening safely for the 2021-2022 concert season, the Kent Chamber Choir will adopt the following COVID policy:
Member responsibilities:
1. All members, contractors, and guest artists are required to be fully vaccinated before participating in any in-person KCC activities. Singers will be asked to present their vaccination card at their first rehearsal. Singers are strongly encouraged to receive a booster as soon as they become eligible.
2. KCC members are entrusted with the health and safety of fellow choristers and therefore MUST excuse themselves from rehearsals and alert KCC if they are experiencing anything on the CDC’s list of Covid-19 symptoms. Since even vaccinated individuals can contract COVID-19 and spread it to the vulnerable (unvaccinated and those with underlying conditions with whom they may interact), or become ill themselves, it is imperative to track symptoms, test regularly, and self-quarantine if needed. (Email [email protected] if missing rehearsals.)
3. KCC members and staff must not attend rehearsals or performances if they have had a recent positive Covid-19 test. Once 10 days have passed since the positive test, members may resume activities.
4. During performances, singers may or may not wear masks at the discretion of the artistic director based on a poll of the singers' comfort level unless such a requirement is mandated by the venue in which case it will be followed.* (*Updated, 4/10/22)
5. All KCC members and staff will be required to sign a statement agreeing to the above and acknowledging personal risk.
Organization responsibilities:
1. Provide hand sanitizer at all rehearsals and performances.
2. Space singers a safe distance from one another.
3. Collaborate with the venue on appropriate social distancing and PPE guidelines
4. KCC will provide information on acquiring a special singers’ mask, should singers choose to do so while singing. Any singers who choose to wear any mask while singing will not be discouraged from doing so.
Audience members may be required to wear masks while attending performances and to abide by seating protocols determined by the Choir in collaboration with the venue. KCC reserves the right to require masks for entry at the door based on the latest CDC recommendations regardless of pre-concert notification.** (**Updated, 4/10/22)
This policy will be reviewed and monitored by the KCC Board and is subject to change as health and safety recommendations evolve. Changes to this policy will be updated on the KCC website’s COVID Policy page as they arise.
This policy has been informed by resources and mandates from the CDC, the State of Delaware, and the American Choral Directors Association including those linked in this policy. Current CDC guidance states that fully-vaccinated individuals singing in an indoor chorus can be unmasked. Indoor choral singing for unvaccinated individuals is still regarded as unsafe, regardless of masking.
